The 2024 Fall Edition of FlexWorld Series took place on November 7th.
The second session of the event was called “Future-Proofing Your Coworking Space: Emerging Trends in Coworking Technology” and was led by Ivan Guberkov, VP of Product at OfficeRnD.
I was delighted to be invited to discuss the importance of integrating technology to drive efficiency and profitability alongside Daniela Mallarino (who leads tech partnerships and integrations at Kisi) and Thomas Proctor (Founder & CEO at NCG).
Our conversation touched on the need for seamless technology solutions, effective tech stacks, and the hidden costs of inefficient processes.
We offered practical advice, emphasized member experience, and provided real-world examples to illustrate what we’re seeing across the flex space market.

- Keep an eye on your stack, even if it "works ok" today.
- A well maintained stack is good for business, and physical security.
- There may be opportunities to improve your teams' workday, just a few clicks away.
- Avoid the temptation to throw more workhours at tasks that should be automated
- Getting started with the right tech is no longer CAPEX intensive.
- Think about whether you're picking solutions that are easiest for you, or those that provide the best experience for your members.
- Not all revenue is created equal, subscription-based businesses (which flex spaces mostly are) need to optimize to retain as much of every dollar earned.
- Outside of fees, commissions and platform fees - there's also operational costs and opportunity costs. These can all be optimized.
- Often its worth looking at the fundamentals (financials and member management) and then building out again from there.
- There are experts around who can help you navigate flex space tech. Ask around, attend conferences, note down the vendors who "get" your business.
